Can you imagine if a Republican VP did that - it would be all over the news! Our biggest problem in America these days is the news - they are selective in reporting, including selective in ignoring, and become rabid dogs against the conservatives they decide to hate. Obama never would have been elected either time if there was actual impartiality in reporting. And we'd probably have Ron Paul for our current president....
I really like to read the columns here written by the black columnists. I love hearing their perspective. I don't get why we aren't embracing more black/minority writers, speakers, entrepreneurs, etc. We just seem to always have a white face talking Republican views. But when minorities get up and speak, they are listened to more. I found Rubio much more engaging than Ryan, and couldn't understand Romney choosing the later as a running mate. Neither candidate oozed personality or charisma. We need minorities with charisma to be part of the face of the Republican party. Without it, the party goes the way of the Whigs and is replaced with the Libertarian or Constitutional party. Old school GOP isn't different enough from the Dems.
The black community seems to have forgotten that Dr. MLK fought for freedom, not free stuff. They dishonor him with the choices they make. And waste their opportunity to move forward.

Interesting how much the press impacts what we get behind. Prior to us getting into war in the middle east they were publicizing so much how the women there were being circumcised. And got us spun up about that in parts of Africa too. While I wouldn't want it done to me, it's not my culture. We keep trying to change peoples long standing cultures created over 1,000's of years. These crimes in Cuba aren't part of their culture, just a bad political tyranny. This the press is OK with.

Report Card on ObamaCare

Everyone wants to resolve the complicated health care problem with more complication, which all adds to the cost. Can you remember when health care wasn't a problem? It was before the mid-1980's when HMO's came into existence. Before that we had Major Medical Insurance. Insurance was only used for unexpected high costs: an operation, and accident, a long-term illness. We had a deductable for $1,000 or so, and paid out of pocket for all medical costs up to that $1k. Most people went years, or a life time, without ever using their insurance. It was there for emergencies - just like car insurance. If we returned to Maj/Med fair market prices would decrease all medical costs, insurance would be more like $500/yr than $5,000/yr.
Dr. Martin Luther King is still loved and worshiped by the black community. I think he'd be very disappointed to see where the black community is today. He marched and fought for equal opportunity for blacks to work and live and be educated. I never heard him request/fight for a free ride. There are so many opportunities today, and I hate to see them ignored by communities of black people sitting on their couches waiting for our tax money to pay their rent, food and health care. They don't seem to see how much their "free money" is costing them. And their children learning from them. It's such wasted opportunity! I want them to succeed more than they seem to want it for themselves.
I think America is ready for a change. The GOP is not significantly different from their democrat opponents - I'm amazed how they hate each other more than any time I can recall, and yet are so much the same!. The challenge is the media has to cover him so Americans/voters can hear him. The media (left and right) went out of it's way to hide Ron Paul. But when people heard what he had to say they liked him. The idea of following the Constitution had appeal on both sides when they could see that most all the problems we have today can be traced back to not following the Constitution. Our elected leaders take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic, and they are the enemy.

Let's just go back to major medical insurance when the cost of care and the cost of insurance was reasonable, established by fair market prices, and the government and corporate America was out of the health business and personal privacy of individuals. Oh, that's right we can't.... It would make too much common sense to return to what wasn't a problem before health care became a problem, especially since the wealth created by the HMO scam would not be available to donate to politicians thereby ensuring the scam lives on and Americans are bankrupted.... Simple fix, just too much common sense to do it...

FOX news lost me during the primaries when they gave time to all candidates but Ron Paul. I remember tuning in after the Iowa caucuses to see the results, and they mentioned all other candidates. I went on line to find out how Ron Paul did and he came in 1st-3rd place in every poll I could find. Where were they to provide any real, hard news on the Republican Convention regarding the Paul supporters being put on a bus to a wrong location to ensure they weren't present for voting? How 'bout for the "live" vote with spoken "yeahs" and "neays" where the results were read off a teleprompter? Where's the hard reporting to expose such BS that if it was done might have a chance of spilling over to mainstream media? That was criminal.

Why are our tax dollars paying for these idiots? Gotta feeling that if the airlines had to pay these costs they would make different choices that would make everything run better. By the way, last time I flew I had to go down this corridor to the plane. The corridor turned right (not other choice) then left (no other choice). At each point there was a woman wearing a bhurka directing us to turn. Are we that stupid? The only other choice would be to turn around and go in reverse. Pointless jobs, filled with muslims, and they humiliate a Marine. When did we loose all common sense!!!! We can't profile muslims - that could hurt their feelings) then we don't profile active duty military and veterans and treat them as criminals.

I don't see the difference coming from past experience in slavery. I see it coming from Hollywood. When I see old TV shows and movies with black actors in them, prior to the 1970's, there was no difference in the way those characters walked, talked, dressed or behaved - unless they were showing a characature, like a slave ("Yazza Mazza"). That all changed in the 1970's when Hollywood created the TV show "Good Times", with Jimmy "Dynomite" Walker. His parents and siblings did not walk or talk any different from any other white characters/families, but the one son did. Since then, depicting blacks as different has expanded. To their detriment. I hope they choose someday to not let Hollywood diminish them and dictate their fate.
