Is there anything more "oxymoronic" than a Muslim civil rights group?

Continued from below: Of course the FDA IS a watchdog, but for Big Pharma, not for the US population as it slides into poorer and poorer health from poly pharmacy, lack of exercise, and dietaryOmega6/Omega3 ratios that virtually guarantee chronic disease. Obama's attempt at reforming the insurance industry met with failure, so we can expect little to change, except Insurance company profits up, premiums, up, denials of care, up, services rendered, down, and provider income, down. I refer you to BusinessWeek, in which the winners and losers in health care were tallied. Patients were NOT among the winners.

I enjoy and agree with much of Ann's commentary, but she's holding too tight to the party line about so-called healthcare issues. The drug companies are cash machines with incredible profits who sell many drugs cheaply to other nations, and sock it to us in the US for, what being US taxpayers? Not content to have drugs run into their generic "due date", they are somehow extending their patents, and as a result, screwing people over on that basis. Of course, many of the drugs were brought to market on cherry-picked research, waved past the FDA, who is more concerned people may be benefiting from a botanical instead of suffering from the side effects of a dangerous pharmaceutical, which is the result of the FDA being a watchdog.

I pay for all the free stuff. Here, let me write another check to the IRS so they can distribute it...

Good point. Elimination of capital gains is a hallmark of conservative dogma that I disagree with, simply because the worst taxation is the taxation against earned (wages/salary) income, not the taxes against my investments. Yes I risk that money, and shouldn't be treated like a robber baron for investing, but the tax on CG should certainly be higher than the taxes on my salary, in which I give hours of my life to earn. That said, treating corporations as individuals is insane. Corporations should pay no taxes. The individuals who run and profit from them should, and they should have the advantage of VERY FEW loopholes.

What will make America strong is revising the system so people like BHO can develop no appeal. That would take a system with business minded folks like Romney coming on board to serve the people, not the corporations. BHO believes in trickle up, Romney believes in trickle down. How about short terms in Congress, no lobbyists, and a balanced budget?

Sounds great. Perhaps they could initiate HEALTHcare. The current sickcare is swmping the boat financially, isn't it?

America has been destroyed by politicians. They succumb to whatever money comes their way, Republican or Democrat, it really makes no difference. Banks simply played in the field they paid for. By the way, most Republicans were not born in bred into trust funds. That's just hyping up the argument and obfuscating the issues. The sooner we understand it is government vs the citizens, and begin cleaning house of all the representatives on state and federal levels who suck up to money and not solve day to day problems, we are on a down hill slide.
