Dr. Sowell has his logic exactly right, as usual, but I would seriously question the premise from which he is arguing, (see Paragraph four). The premise is twofold. The right to choose where one lives is a basic right, and is not its arbitrary infringement an even more basic wrong than local zoning laws, which Dr. Sowell has, correctly, often castigated? Immigration should, in my opinion, be restricted only for good cause applied to each individual. Also should the early immigrants from Europe, who landed without permission, be expelled, along with their descendants, because they lacked the approval of the local inhabitants (among whom were some of my ancestors) ? Time DOES make a difference -- just how much...
