Putin might be autocrat, but he is a leader, Obama is not. Obama made it personal against Putin. It is so low for world leader. Doctrine Monro esteblished sphere of influence for the US. Putin wants it for Russia too. What's wrong with it. He is not invade any thing. He just wants to restore Russia. As to Crimea it was for centuries Russian land, illegaly taken by communist ruler from Russia.
Hi Darby, you would be surprised to learn that Palestine was taken by Arabs from Jews: San Remo resolution On April 25, 1920, delegations from the Allied nations met in San Remo, Italy, to divide the Middle East they had conquered from Ottoman Empire. The conference resolution gave over 97% of the land to the Arabs, which resulted in the creation of the new, exclusively Arab states of Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and, later, Jordan. The remainder of the Middle East, the Palestine, the resolution gave to the Jews as a home land of Jewish people. Palestine then included present-day Israel, Gaza, Judea, Samaria, and Jordan. The conference's decisions were confirmed unanimously by all fifty-one member countries of the League of Nations on July 24, 1922 and they were further endorsed by a joint resolution of the United States Congress in the same year. The San Remo Conference decided to place Palestine under British Mandatory rule. The resulting "Mandate for Palestine," was an historical League of Nations document that laid down the Jewish legal right to settle anywhere in Palestine and the San Remo Resolution together with Article 22 of the Covenant of the League of Nations became the basic documents on which the Mandate for Palestine was established. The San Remo resolution has never been abrogated; it was and continues to be legally binding. In 1945 it was confirmed in Article 80 of The UN charter: No right gained by a country through a mandate will expire as a result of the expiration of the mandate.

What a piece of cr@p this article is. Mark, Russians defeated Nazi. And not because more Russians were killed, but because 80% of Geman military forces were on the Eastern front. The scale of Russian devastation was unbelievable. What is why people of Russia remember it. Also there is no political correctness in Russia. In the West remembering WWII became not politically correct. What a shame.

New unelected Ukrainian government uses West as a pawn against Russia. And gullible Western leader did not understand it or pretend not understanding it..
Voting by color of skin is racism. Obama is a disgrace for America. That is happening when you vote by color of skin not by merits.

Whether or not sanctions work it is not clear. But the question is: is Ukraine worth all this? There is a lot of thugs disguise as a freedom fighters and West buy as a real democracy. In foreign policy, Putin has a lot ammunition to fight back. If he pulls from negotiation with Iran, this negotiation is doomed.

This writer believe that Ukraine is so good but Russia is so bad. Go to the library and read history a little before you write it. And Ukraine is so good it is worth to send American troops in to Crimea. Hey John read about WWII history. There was the guy in Germany who sent his troops to Russia. He ended up badly.

Putin wll keep his promise not to invade any territory but Crimea, not because he is a good guy, but because it would be just a head ache for him. It does not make sense for him to get involved in occupation business. Our inept politicians do not understand, or pretend not understandig that.
