In response to:

Still the Least Racist Country in the World

One great way to understand just how exceptional this Nation is, is to join the Military and see other Nations and how they live and think. Then when you see this you will realize just what America is the greatest Nation on earth. If you disagree with that statement, you have not seen enough of the world to know any better. Could it be that Selective Service would be good for the people and Nation?

"american exceptionalism" was coined by a liberal

The Selective Service is slavery with a salute.

In the name of preserving freedom, we should force young men to work in a field not of their choosing, ship them off to places we have no reason to be, and bankrupt ourselves doing it?

Yea, I guess it would be best that they sit back and be unemployed while the rest of the taxpayers pay for them to live off the rest of us. Brilliant!!!

It was the best thing that ever happened to this country. it forced young men to associate and be polite to others. You don't have to ship them overseas, but to be forced to associate with different subcultures gives young man a basis in reality for disliking a subculture. And who knows, it might even lead to less hostility. Ignorance is the friend of conservatism.

The thing you forgot is that freedom is not free, it took the wearing of the uniform by many American men and women to give us our freedom and will take more to keep it. Both my wife and I are vets, and I am proud to say it. Remember this, if not for those wearing the uniform, you would not have the right to say it's slavery with a salute.

You prooved that ignorance is your best freind with this ridiculous comment.

What a monumentally stupid thing to say! Ignorance is, in fact, the mother’s milk of liberalism. The circus surrounding l’affaire Trayvon Martin is Exhibit A.

"It was the best thing that ever happened to this country."-- ATGL

Slavery of our population for wars in which we had no interest was the best thing that ever happened?

Should we also force people to live in mixed neighborhoods? If you think living around Latinos and Blacks will make one a true multiculturalist, you're delusional. It will only make them lose all sentimental kumbayaism force fed to them as children.

NO,forced military service was NOT the "best thing that ever happened to this country".
One thing a soldier doesn't want is another soldier who doesn't want to be there covering his back.
the military does not want or need incompetents, traitors and slackers.
why waste training and resources on them? for what gain?

The reason that you can write your stupid letters and not get visited by the secret police is because of those of us who serve and have served since 1776 you anuslicker.

Yes Selective Service would be good for this nation. Everybody needs to have some skin in the game so to speak. Repeated combat tours especially by National Guard and Reserve units was and is not the function of these groups. Both of my grandfathers served, my father and my father-in-law both served, I served, and both of my boys served. I also think that serving in the military might give some people some smarts that they don't get by watching what Snookie and the Kardashians are doing this week.
In light of the tragic killing of black teenager Trayvon Martin -- and the manufactured hysteria surrounding it -- one thing needs to be stated as clearly and as often as possible: The United States is the least racist and least xenophobic country in the world. Foreigners of every race, ethnicity, and religion know this. Most Americans suspect this. Most black Americans and the entire left deny this.

Black Africans know this. That is why so many seek to live in the United States. Decades ago, the number of black Africans who had immigrated to the United States had already surpassed the...
