Saepe_ Expertus Wrote: 11 minutes ago (12:06 PM) Have you EVER seen a real, genuine, knock-down, screaming hissy fit performed by a 3-year old....especially in public? Raising children is like herding geese: you have to VIGILANTLY keep their behavior within the boundaries which YOU, the parent, establish. Freedom is NOT license ---- Does anyone think that Saepe is suggesting that only conservative raise good kids and liberals cannot?

Sometimes a three year old just melts down and has a tantrum, regardless of how well the parents are raising the child. Any parent who claims their three year old never threw a tantrum is lying.

nope...not at all. Some parents do not establish limits for their kids out of "love", some out of being taught that to do so limits the child's "growth"
Political ideology has little to do with how a person raises their children.

Amy, I agree that political ideology has little to do with effective child raising.

But, are you saying that is not what Saepe is saying? Interesting. What is Saepe saying?

Saepe was saying that comparing Hawkins to "a spoiled child throwing a tantrum" is hyperbole. He said absolutely nothing about political affiliation, liberal parents versus conservative parents, etc. You extrapolated that out of your own personal bias and over-sensitive nature.

And now, I am a racist, I'm sure. Because, after all, I believe in the ideals of the TEA party, I'm white, I'm male, I'm older... thus, I am a racist. It matters not about who my friends are or whom I admire and look up to... I don't toe the liberal line, I am a racist.

By the way, I guess Thomas Sowell must be a racist as well..............

1) Working hard, being self-reliant and taking responsibility for your own life are good for you and will make you much happier than having too much leisure time, being overly dependent and giving others responsibility for your life.

2) The more a behavior is rewarded with attention, fame, sympathy or money, the more of it we'll see. We recognize this almost instinctively when it comes to good behaviors, but we also tend to almost habitually block it out when it comes to behaviors we don't want to encourage.

3) There's nothing shameful about being poor -- but, if you stay...
