It's Not Cool To Cherry Pick Scripture

What irony! No one "cherry picks" scriptures like you christians. Take just one example. It clearly says "thou shalt not kill", but you choose to ignore that and take the "eye for an eye" passage as justification for the electric chair!

"No one "cherry picks" scriptures like you christians."

Exactly.

Prove it.

You unbelievers really think you're something, explaining to us that which we believe and you do not.

You certainly seem to think Jesus was a socialist simply because on two known occasions He fed the multitudes, and on others healed the sick, His parable of the Good Samaritan or His healing miracles (enabling the formerly helpless to earn their own bread) notwithstanding.

How's that for 'cherry-picking'?

No one cherry picks scriptures like atheists who have no clue what they mean to begin with and certainly not in context.

"Prove it."

A typical case is Doug Giles and his moronic application of Luke 22:36.

donjindra again mocks a believer while destroying his own position. What does Luke matter if there is no God, donjindra?

Why does it mean anything to an atheists except a political atheist?

Your statements are self defeating and hilarious

"You unbelievers really think you're something, explaining to us that which we believe and you do not. "

So you

1) reason in terms of groups, AKA group think, instead of addressing the specific things you've been discussing. That's an "F" for you.

2) He was talking about your *behavior* which anyone can see was accurate, because of the audit trail your conversation has produced.

You changed the question....because you have such a *strong* argument for your case?

No, that is what people do when they have *lost* the argument.

That's false; theists with no clue also cherry pick.

Try to say something true from now on; the effort will show.

"mocks a believer "

Rational criticism isn't mocking.

I suggest you consult a dictionary if you would like to appear less ignorant in the future. You've pretty much trashed your reputation this time around with the rhetorical bullshi+ and personal attacks that indicate you have no rational basis for what you think.

Your biblical ignorance betrays you, idopas. The Commandment uses the Hebrew word for "murder" when it says, "Thou shalt not kill". King David, a man whom God called "A man after My own heart" had the blood of MANY of God's (and Israel's) enemies on his hands (starting with the severed head of Goliath). God never condemned or rebuked David for those killings. The ONLY 'killing' that God rebuked David for (and punished David with dire consequences for the remainder of David's life) was the MURDER of Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba. Capitol punishment against those who shed human blood in MURDER was instituted by God ("Whoso sheds man's blood , by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He him." Genesis 9:6

Justification for capital punishment. Either innocent human life is valuable or it isn't.

Thanks for playing.

But do you own that value? That's the real question.

"justification" = "you know it's wrong" obviously.

No, seriously; nobody ever justifies saving kids from a fire, do they?

No, thank YOU for playing...right into you opponent's hands like a stupid child, fitting the profile perfectly.
With Easter approaching and the Astroturf groundswell for same-sex marriage at its apex, I thought I'd put in a plug for the Bible, whose integrity and timeless principles are under increasing assault in our culture.

In fact, what sparked this column was a warning by a nationally prominent Republican to his party that it ought not go "Old Testament" and oppose same-sex marriage.

I don't want to turn this column into a rant about same-sex marriage, but I cite this example to illustrate a common tendency to bifurcate the Old Testament and the New Testament and to paint Jesus Christ as a...
