Another slippery slope problem is the mental health database, and that IS a registry, by the way. At first I thought it might be a good idea but then considered how many veterans and gun owners could be slipped into that category. I realized how many of us, thinking of my family, friends, community, could be quietly placed in that category! Returning from the military (trauma), PTSD, talking to your doctor about some depression (pretty common), all these could land you on a national registry. It is up to responsible gun owners to restrict access to weapons (notice I didn't say JUST guns) if we fear someone might be volatile. If someone is going to "break", they will find a weapon - any weapon, including fists, hammers, etc.
