Have you ever heard the saying-"keep your friends close, and your enemies even closer" ? Maybe Michael is trying to convert Alan. Maybe they don't discuss politics. Whatever. I have friends with whom I disagree politically on existential levels, but we share the same faith, and worship the same God, at the same church. They make my life richer, even though we disagree politically.
