Like ObamaCare, it could only be constitutionally sustained under the Congress' power to tax. You cannot constitutionally force someone to save in an IRA; however, you can tax them. Of course, the logic was pretty straight forward when it came to Social Security. To sustain ObamaCare, the Roberts majority has to rule that the taxing power of the Congress trumps its violations of the Commerce Clause and that via the taxing power Congress can actually force people to buy a product or service they don't want or get fined/surcharged/penalized (pick one) for it. Thanks to this decision, the majority now teaches that not only does the US Constitution 'evolve', it does gymnastics.
There are numerous ways to pay in more than you (or your spouse for that matter) gets out. One way is to not make retirement or die soon after. Another is to have a spouse ineligible to collect (e.g. non-citizen). The key point to remember is that it's a tax with uncertain rebate provisions--nothing more. It is not retirement insurance anymore than ObamaScare is health insurance. It is there to serve Statism, not the public good.
I don't see where the student was suspended in the article.
It occurs to me that one does not have to be a devout Mormon or devout anything else to refuse to do such a school assignment--only a person who knows what's right and wrong and is willing to stand up for it. Just the same, well done to the student who refused, Ryan Rotela, who deserves to be counted among the righteous.

The British press is famous for taking some quote from some low-level politician's entourage and quoting them as "senior advisor" or such other nonsence. If you look at Mitt's real senior advisors, it hardly WASPish. Smarter folks are already paying attention to Mitt's visit to Poland (highlighting Obama's assuring open mike whisper to Russia's puppet Prez) and his trip to Israel...where NoBama has never gone before.

The only fraud is the Losertarian movement and its attempt to hijack the GOP. My Dad the psychologist was right! The most conspiracy-minded are usually using their theories as an excuse to justify their own conspiracies.

You're only proving the point. People are getting unemployment, extended time and again from the Government and consciously moving to SSDI rather than going back to work. SSDI is not supposed to be a substitute for unemployment insurance. I agree that it's predicatable, particularly when you have created a business-hostile environment, such as Obama has done. However, it's also dysfunctional on both social and economic levels...and at this point it's mostly Obama's fault and failure, not just GWB's. Vote Mitt Romney!

If that would happen, it would lower the top-line unemployment rate a whole lot more than .01% too. Obviously, that is not happening. Good observation.
