Give it up. Libertarians have more in common with Democrats than conservatives. Conservatives would rather die on principle than betray their convictions.

There's a big difference between minding your own business and keeping a strong defense versus sticking your head in the sand. Sticking your head in the sand was Carter's way. Minding your own business by NOT propping up "US-friendly" dictators that you later take out or paying other countries for the "privilege" of keeping troops in those countries whereby those countries can avoid having a full military and spend on their welfare state instead while sneering at us seems pretty sensible to me. Still anti-Libertarian?

You're absolutely wrong. Most Libertarians are more concerned about their pocket books than social agendas. But overall, they don't believe in welfare, food stamps, anyone paying taxes, Big Government, etc. They just don't like the bible thumpers and anti-abortionists that all too often rule the Repubs.

No, dying on principle means not selling your soul for political expediency.
It means not offering up your daughter in exchange for a rapist not raping your wife.

Immigration is a hill worth dying on, because it means the end of the country as we know it. If we lose this and they pass amnesty, it is all over. The end. Finished.

They always quote the 12 million illegals number. Bet that is a red herring, because they are sending their money back to their home countries TO THEIR FAMILIES!!!!!! And when they are legal, they won't have to do that anymore, because THEIR FAMILIES WILL COME HERE!!!!!!!

Tell me how another Republican/Conservative EVER wins Florida again after all the illegals are legalized here?

I know enough to know that I'd never vote for one.

I agree with Libertarians on spending policy, and I agree in shrinking the size of gov't.

But on drug legalization, abortion, gay marriage, sorry, not going to agree with you.

But when it comes to foreign policy, you guys are flat out nuts!!
Just not living in the modern world....still think it's 1776.
It's suicide to sit back and let your enemies gather strength while you stick your head in the sand.

You obviously don't know much about libertarians.

Dying on principle means quitting and letting the other side win

To paraphrase Patton the job of the soldier is not to die for your country but make the other guy die for his

Some things we must always oppose but there are times to bend and make bad things better also
These days, our political parties are defined by their presidents. Their policies and their programs tend to become their respective parties' orthodoxies.

And the perceived success or failure of those policies and programs tends to determine how the parties' candidates, even those who don't support many of them, do at the polls.

This has been especially true in the past two decades, in which fewer Americans have been splitting their tickets or changing their minds from election to election than was the case from the 1950s to the 1980s.

For years, white Southerners voted Republican or for a third-party candidate in presidential elections and...
