To some extent you are right but also the GOP would need to begin attacking companies the rich and give a ton to the poor with no strings attached. So what good would it do to become Liberal Lite just to get power when what the left is doing is so destructive as it is.

Though you both raise valid points, I believe (perhaps naively) that principles are color-blind and quite capable of persuasion on the basis of merit, not "messaging". It seems to me that both parties have cast off their original principles in the pursuit of political dominance--for different reasons and to different ends. Principles must again be placed ahead of partisanship, or our country will pay the price.

Although studies show that we conservatives are usually happier and more optimistic than most about our personal lives, we also tend to be a bit more pessimistic than the average person about the country. We look at our unsustainable level of spending, the dramatically expanding, increasingly lawless welfare state, encouragement of tribalism and class hatred as a political tactic, hostility towards Christianity, schools that teach socialism and liberalism, the morally bankrupt entertainment industry and the reelection of a man who may have had the single worst performance as President of anyone in our nation's history and we quite naturally...
