Have to agree with you, Wayne. The more times money changes hands, the less money comes out in the end (both by the processing and through corruption). It's all a power generator for the fed govt to control the states and also to prop up states that have bad policies with money from states that have good policies.

Awesome! Thanks! :)
So very true, Francis. And, no, I don't think that many politicians are capable of it.

Huh, silly me, I could have sworn that Romney released his tax records...

Right on, Gator! That's what I find so upsetting about all of this as well. Where's the vetting? If they can find someone from fifty years ago who knew Romney, why aren't we hearing any stories from classmates of Obama?

Absolutely, Hannah. I'm not really a "birther" and I'm certainly not into conspiracy theories, but I find it odd that we have records from former presidents but not this one. I also wonder what is in his college records, if it would just be embarrassing (sure he has a degree, but was he at the bottom of his class?) or something more.

b_niles: Whenever you are interpreting text, you have to look at the time period it was written in order to correctly infer meaning. For example, if I read a sentence that stated, "He was gay.", the meaning is entirely dependent upon the time period it was written. 1900's = He was happy. 2000's = He was homosexual. Get it? The same thing is true for contextual meaning as it is for literal meaning. (Yes, I am likely spitting in the wind on this, but it's one of my pet peeves.)

Getting the State out of Marriage

Absolutely Gayle90!!! And if something happens to the father that he is unable to fulfill that responsibility, then that's where private charities come in to play. There's no need for gov't involvement in any of it.

I've wondered about that. If someone came up to me and said that the Easter Bunny was going to drag me off to some evil place with torture for eternity if I didn't paint eggs and then worship them...? I'd reply, "Have fun with that." If they wanted to display painted eggs somewhere, why would I care?
