Todd Akins was the nominee because we allow Democrats to vote in Republican primaries. He was chosen by Democrats, not Republicans.

Akin was elected in Missouri, and yes, we have open primaries here.

However, the nomination of Akin came at the hands of Republicans, even if Dems spent a lot of money to try to beat the other two candidates because Akin was clearly the most extreme, and they thought he would end up saying something that would kill his own chances. They turned out to be right.

The claim that Dems showed up at the polls to vote in the Republican primary is laughable, however. Getting Missouri Democrats to show up at the polls to vote for their own candidates is hard enough. You seriously think the Dems are so well organized they can turn out thousands of voters for a Republican primary to vote against candidates the Dems don't want to face??? Hardly....

Actually no, Arkansas primary rules:
In a primary election, you must state the party primary in which you wish to vote. If you do not wish to cast a party ballot, you may choose to vote only in the non-partisan races (which may include judicial contests, tax increases and other local issues).

In a primary election, you are allowed to vote only one party’s ballot or the non-partisan judicial ballot. The election official records which party’s ballot you choose.

10) Gallup and Rasmussen Reports Cause a Conservative Pundit Election Prediction Implosion: Before the election, most liberal pundits were predicting that Obama would win, while most conservative pundits (Yes, my hand is up) thought Romney would pull it off. While there was no doubt a little wishful thinking involved, what really happened was that there was a major split between Rasmussen, Gallup and the other pollsters. We believed Rasmussen and Gallup's much more pro-Romney numbers which turned out to be the worst mistake since Napoleon decided that Russia was ripe for a winter invasion.
