Thanks for the perspective, Peter. Good advice. In your first paragraph, however, you've got bad math. A rise from $25 Mill to $23 Bill isn't 900%, it's ~99,900%. (900% would be a 10x increase in value; Google had a ~1000x increase.)
A general discussion of "Immigration reform" is pointless because it can mean so many different things, so start with what we do agree on: the rule of law. Enforce the current law, including building the fence, then we'll have the basis of trust needed to start a dialog. Won't happen. Not with this lawless President.

Thanks for setting the record straight, Mr. Chapman. While I despise Obama, the truth is just as you say--that Bush set the timetable. And the Bush administration showed no wisdom about the ramifications of an invasion. Democracy in Iraq? Pearls before swine.

"Like materialism, consumerism and socialism, transnationalism suffers from the same fatal flaw. It feeds the body and starves the soul." Add the Democratic party's politics of envy--the heart of their strategy--to that list.
Sure, Larry, a path to citizenship for 12-20 million voters who vote 70% Democrat. Adios, Republican presidency. Adios, Supreme Court. Adios, the America we knew.
I tend to agree, Jonah, but only if limiting the intervention to hardware. The question becomes complicated if you include our troops. That is, how do you justify sending our men in harm's way? Did they sign up to fight limitless evil all over the world, or was it to defend our country? For missions like this, make it voluntary. There will be no shortage of soldiers signing up.

Say 'No' to Bad Science

Thank you for mentioning the fraud of Ancel Keys. His famous "7 Countries Study" started the whole "saturated-fat-is-bad" dogma. The data looked compelling, until a questioning mind noticed years later that there were actually data from 22 countries. When the data of all 22 were plotted, no correlation resulted. Michael Mann is the same sort of media hound fraud as Keys. Question everything you hear, especially from the government!
Amen, sister! There's also a need for a coherent message that's NOT "we're Democrat-light". I'd like to see a column on what you think would work, Star. My vote: "Freedom". Freedom from an overbearing regulatory state, freedom of choice in healthcare, freedom to try and to succeed or fail, etc.
Sure, the system will collapse, but that could be a long way off. Decades. The world still is very willing to extend us credit, so we can play extend-and-pretend for a long time. And when it does collapse, I'm not at all confident that the blame will be fixed where it should be. The ignorant masses will still be ignorant.

Are You Smarter Than a Communist?

Really? Which was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics...communist or socialist?
The portion of the brain that is curious about history and evidence is strangely non-functional in liberals.
