You live in a fictitious world, but fortunately for you, even blind fantasists can be happy.

Excellent article, Pat. I always enjoy your citing the lessons of history, a subject from which liberals never learn anything. It is one reason why "They do not understand people of the heart because they do not understand human nature". You were describing European leaders, but that quote applies to all liberals.

Well done, Erica! The article describes clearly what many of us have noted about the liberal mind. And thanks for highlighting Jonathan Haidt's work. He's not a fire-breathing reactionary; rather, he's an excellent thinker and articulate writer who deserves everyone's attention.

The Real Failures of Immigration Policy

When you arrive at the border in your Mexican-government-provided shuttle, you get food, shelter, education, healthcare...and maybe underwear. You also get a court date, but if you don't show (like 80-90% don't), no worries, we ain't tracking you. Tell me again why they're coming, Steve?
Thanks for the perspective, Peter. Good advice. In your first paragraph, however, you've got bad math. A rise from $25 Mill to $23 Bill isn't 900%, it's ~99,900%. (900% would be a 10x increase in value; Google had a ~1000x increase.)
A general discussion of "Immigration reform" is pointless because it can mean so many different things, so start with what we do agree on: the rule of law. Enforce the current law, including building the fence, then we'll have the basis of trust needed to start a dialog. Won't happen. Not with this lawless President.

What Went Wrong in Iraq

Thanks for setting the record straight, Mr. Chapman. While I despise Obama, the truth is just as you say--that Bush set the timetable. And the Bush administration showed no wisdom about the ramifications of an invasion. Democracy in Iraq? Pearls before swine.

"Like materialism, consumerism and socialism, transnationalism suffers from the same fatal flaw. It feeds the body and starves the soul." Add the Democratic party's politics of envy--the heart of their strategy--to that list.
Sure, Larry, a path to citizenship for 12-20 million voters who vote 70% Democrat. Adios, Republican presidency. Adios, Supreme Court. Adios, the America we knew.
