I nearly always agree with Dr. Sowell, but he's off-base for once. The problem with drone strikes on US citizens who have joined terrorist organizations is twofold. First, due process is not being done, by the rules the administration set up. That means US citizens are being deprived of life by our government by presidential fiat, without a judge or jury passing sentence - very disturbing. Second, the innocent children of these people - children who are also US citizens - are put at risk. One, at least, has apparently been killed. That's way beyond the pale.

The universal laws of war penalize a traitor with death! When a traitor is identified he is eliminated before he can inflict more damage. Maj. Hasan, an American citizen, murdered 13 patriots and wounded 32 others at Ft. Hood. He had already been suspected of being a terrorist, (traitor) by the FBI as his communication with al-Awlaki, an American citizen, and a known traitor, had been compromised. The life of just one of these patriots murdred at Ft. Hood is worth more than that of a thousand traitors!

Today the kills are overseas. Tomorrow, here. Big government is by its nature oppressive and always seeks to expand its power. This is why the founding fathers tried to do everything they could to limit the size and scope of government. I think they knew that in the long run the masses would fritter their freedoms away through ignorance and sloth because history shows that it's human nature. Most people like the idea of 'being taken care of'. No sweat no strain.......no gain and enslavement follows.

Progressives, or Liberals, or whatever Sect of the Religion, are consistently inconsistent.
Our citizens' civil rights to trial, etc, to terrorists, and obliteration to the children and surrounding strangers of a traitor. And little Liberal outcry about it.
And if you can trace a traitor, you can try to arrest them. But it does please me that none feel safe, other than those cozy to community organizers.

Random thoughts on the passing scene:

I can't get excited by the question of whether Senator Robert Menendez had sex with a prostitute in Central America. It is her word against his -- and when it comes to a prostitute's word against a politician's word, that is too close to call.

If an American citizen went off to join Hitler's army during World War II, would there have been any question that this alone would make it legal to kill him? Why then is there an uproar about killing an American citizen who has joined terrorist organizations that...
