Polanski is accused of a horrific crime -- the rape of a child.

Letterman is guilty of exceedingly poor judgment in his personal life, but actually helped STOP a crime by taking the high road, publicly confessing his sin (something your GOPers never do when caught!) and cooperating with the police.
