UltraMan, You're assuming a "flat" income tax - which it isn't. In fact, it's heavily skewed to the upper-income people, just like you're advocating. The break-even point is somewhere around $50,000. If you make less than that, the government is already paying you more than you pay them. However, that's only part of the picture. Payroll and SS taxes are heavily skewed to the LOWER end of the income range. THOSE are the taxes you should be complaining about.
