Tort Reform: Remedy or Red Herring?

The legal system went out of wack when the laws were changed to Contributory negligence from Comparative. This basicaly states when an accident happens everyone contributes to it therefore if a victum is judged to be 99% contributing to a $100,000,000 judgment the insurance company of the other party who is sued has to pay $1,000,000. This opens up every deep pocket for any lawyer. No responsibilty for the actions of the victum, just a reward for bad behavior. So, get drunk, run a red light, get hit by a 18 wheeler, and then collect the large limit of the truckers policy because he happened to be using the same intersection. That sure sounds like good law to me.

The way for Congress to be cleaned up is to connect all the Congress electronically to their respective State Capitals and do away with Washington D.C. Capital Building as a meeting place . When Congress meets it is networked together by a giant screen showing all the Congressmen and women with their own screen. Committee meetings would work the same way. They then do not need to be located in Washington D.C. The Congress is being ran with 18 century technology while we are wasting the benefits of 21st century technology. The congressmen would then be close to their on constituents and state legislatures not the lobbies. The peoples views would become paramount not the lobbies. The technology is available(Big...

John, show how the bad Lawyers are never sued but the bad Doctors are always. Look at the difference in malpractice insurance premiuns for doctors and the "errors and omissions" insurance for lawyers. You don't see lawyers leaving the professions because of their mistakes which are many. Their are almost no attorneys that will sue another attorney.
