I totally agree that there have been some unintended consequences of the feminist movement. However, without it those of us who truly do wish to live independently, who do not wish to marry or have children, and are also not wealthy are able to choose what we want without condemnation. Prior to the feminist movement it simply wasn't possible for an average woman to function without a man becasue they were paid less, denied credit, and couldn't even buy a house on their own. I am totally willing to respect your life choices so long as you are willing to accept mine and cease condescending to those who are different from yourself.

In an attempt to explain why a generation of women born in the 1960s and 1970s are finding themselves living lives of solitude, a male friend emailed me All the Single Ladies, thinking I’d buy into the writer’s load of crap. The 39 year old single woman spends an endless amount of ink trying to convince herself and single women everywhere they are happy living empowered lives of solitude, which couldn’t be further from the truth.
