I misspent much of my adult life working in the belly of the welfare best, so this is something I must live with. However, a word on the so-called 'welfare work requirements.' Anyone who works or worked in the system know that they were a complete joke. Most welfare recipients were exempt for one reason or another, and those not exempt were constantly being recycled into different work programs. The cost in gov't paid day care alone is a huge waste of money. Plus, all workers knew that the initial 5 year time limit would not be enforced, especially when the economy went bad. The true story has never been told about TANF. It was based on good intentions, but, like all gov't programs, has been a miserable failure.

Well, he’s done it again.  The old sleight of hand trick when we weren’t looking.  As the entire media was foaming at the mouth over Mitt Romney and whether or not he was a “felon”, our President signed another directive that completely gutted the Welfare reform act that was signed into law under Bill Clinton in 1996. 

This was the only entitlement program that had teeth to it and was actually working to wean people off of the welfare rolls.  What did he do?  His Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released an official policy directive...
