So we are advised by your holy book to unite behind Obama in the interests of continuing our society? Or are we urged to unite against him and his anticapitalist policies?

You obviously have a very ONE DIMENSIONAL perception of what capitalism is. It's the old addage, give a man a fish, vs, teach a man to fish. Capitalism, if properly implemented, teaches a man to fish for life. It gives opportunity to everyone, as opposed to socialism, which, allows for only the elite to prosper, while the rest labor and suffer under elite rule.

There are some "confused christians" out there who tout socialism as something to be admired, and that Jesus Himself was a socialist. Nothing could be further than the truth, but their confusion remains.

As Dr. Sowell reminded us, it's WE THE PEOPLE, not I the PRESIDENT. Also, I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who encouraged revolution over tyranny.

Christians believe in treating fellow citizens as a brother, have fought for civil rights and fair wages. They don't believe the gubmint should be the conduit to accomplish those goals. They want to give individual help to a brother in need, hire the qualified minority in their business and pay them a fair wage that both parties agree to. Same values, different execution.

"Every Christian I know stands against Obama" REALLY must not get out much.

"Virtually every "progressive" position is 180 degrees opposite to Christian beliefs."

No kidding? Virtually every position? Like treating fellow citizens as brothers, rather than competing to accumulate material wealth for yourself? Like fighting for civil rights? Fair wages? A decent lifestyle for the working class?

Bob, "virtually every" Christian I know who defines himself as a Christian is unable to accept the fact that this is not a Christian nation, and that other religions are as legitimate as Christianity.

Every Christian I know stands against Obama and the evils of socialism, communism or fascism. Virtually every "progressive" position is 180 degrees opposite to Christian beliefs.
It bothers me a little when conservatives call Barack Obama a "socialist." He certainly is an enemy of the free market, and wants politicians and bureaucrats to make the fundamental decisions about the economy. But that does not mean that he wants government ownership of the means of production, which has long been a standard definition of socialism.

What President Obama has been pushing for, and moving toward, is more insidious: government control of the economy, while leaving ownership in private hands. That way, politicians get to call the shots but, when their bright ideas lead to disaster, they...
