Martial Law and a Would Be King

"Constitutional Scholar" and "POTUS" are mutually exclusive terms!!!
Don't buy GM or Chrysler until the folks Obama SCREWED get their just deserts--and make the Democratic Party pay it back!
Just a second there, Jack; jokes and senses of humor are different things, and one can use the former for truly malevolent means. Just watch any of the recent Comedy Central "roasts"; I found Amy Schumer (yes, related to Chuck, which should be a disqualification in its own right) to be supremely offensive, especially in her critique of the (now late) Patrice O'Neal. She jokes in (I believe) the roast of David Hasselhoff about his having a disease that, not two months after the show, kills the comedian. What's funny in THAT? On the other hand, in "Blue Collar Tour Rides Again", Jeff Foxworthy, during the "I Believe" segment, says, "I believe that if you can't say something nice about someone...you must be talking about Hillary Clinton"--and we laugh because we know his sentiment; the joke is a variation on a theme but with a palpably valid argument. Is this mean, or is this accurate? I believe the latter, and funny as all get out. It is true that PC sucks all humor out of life, but biblically we need to guard our tongues, because words convey thoughts that, once said, can't be "unsaid"--no matter how much we may wish otherwise.

The Heartlessness Charge

"But other than the protesters in Murrieta -- and no one has polled them to discover their political views, though it's likely that they're conservatives -- by what standard are Republicans held to be heartless while Democrats are not?" Simple; the standard of identity. Conservative=bad; leftist=good.
Don't know if someone else made the point earlier, but Star, dear, PLEASE get the info right! The issue was not over CONTRACEPTIVES (HL already provides for those) but ABORTIFACIENTS. Other than that, yes, the Court got this one right. The fact that it was 5-4, though, is still frightening.
Rot in hell, Janet Reno, Eric Holder and whoever cooperated in that tragedy...

Not just on this issue; there have been too many 5-4 votes--the same 5 versus the same 4--which demonstrates that nearly any decision handed down is ideological instead on constitutional. Frightening...

WWI and the Second Fall of Man

Perhaps the saddest irony of all is that Gavrilo Princip murdered the very person who might have helped his nation. If you've watched the History Channel series "The First World War" (also available on YouTube), you'd know that Archduke Franz Ferdinand was quite opposed politically to his ultraconservative father; he welcomed the idea of liberalization, even going so far as to having a map of GrossOstereich (Greater Austria) drawn that would give autonomy to minority populations. Sadly, members of the Serbian Army, led by Dragutin Dimitriyevich, who also led an inner circle of officers known as "The Black Hand", were the ones who equipped the small band of zealots who killed him and his wife that fateful day--and even with some twists of fate which, if they had not happened, may have avoided the whole thing.
