(from part 3 above) The only thing I would not want to see is it be sponsored by some government program! Let the private sector handle it!

(from part 2 above) While I feel that we should not try to bring European attitudes such as socialism to the United States, I feel that one area in which the Europeans have one up on us is on the subject of sexual conduct! In spite of having a rate of sexual activity that is as great if not greater than it is here in the 'States, their rate of teen pregnancies is much lower. In one country, the Netherlands, the rate of teen pregnancies is ONE-NINTH of what it is here in the 'States! Because European attitudes toward sexuality are different from ours and we here in the 'States are living in a state of denial, I feel we should look to Europe and see how they do things with regard to these issues.

(From part 1 above) In spite of my support for legal abortion, I must say I don't support gov't funding for abortion whatsoever! If planned parenthood, NOW or NARAL want to fund the procedure with their own funds, let THEM do it! It is NOT right for said individuals to request such a procedure and ask the public to pay for it! Moreover, I feel we must do as much as possible to provide people (especially youth) with ALL necessary information on how to prevent unwanted pregnancies from happening in the first place! When I say this understand that we can NOT, I repeat CAN NOT limit sex education of any kind to 'abstinence only! There are too many people who will NOT heed that advice and will continue to do as they please!

This is correct! It is important to remember that in Romania in 1971 both abortion and birth control were made illegal and the results were horrendous! Nicolae Ceausescu was president at the time and we all saw what happened to him and his wife on Christmas day 1989, didn't we? the fact of the matter is abortions WERE common. Many of those who couldn't get proper abortions often died. Before R. v. W. was 'passed', many women who didn't live in Alaska, Hawaii, New York or Washington state (where abortion was legal from about 1970 on) and who had the means would make trips to those respective states to have the procedure done.
