The Problem With The Right Part 2

Republicans haven't been losing elections because of their stances on abortion or gay marriage, or for discussing it. They're losing elections because they forgo their conservative base to gain media favor. They have this misguided belief that abandoning core conservative values will cause the media to support them, and that straddling the fence will win more votes. And, BTW, winning elections isn't an end-all solution. Getting Republicans into office isn't good enough anymore. If they're not the kind of Republican who can actually lead the country into a better direction, then they don't belong there.
This article could've used a dozen more assurances that the protest was peaceful.

An Open Letter to the Political Right

In my opinion, establishment Republicans are worse than Democrats. With a Democrat, you know what to expect, and any bad thing a Democrat does will reflect negatively on that party. With establishment Republicans, you don't know if they're actually conservative or if they just supporting it to get elected, and any negative act will reflect badly on conservatives, even though they're anything but. Basically, you can prepare for the knife that a Democrat will stick in your chest, but you can do little about the knife that an Establishment Republican will stick in your back. Establishment Republicans only muddy the water between the parties and create the kind of discontent and cynicism that keeps genuinely good people from being elected and keeps the rest of us down.
Maybe if Gloria Steinem hadn't been so quick to adopt the "Free Grope Rule" to protect her own political interests, maybe women would be in a better place by now. ;)

"These Texas laws deny plaintiffs access to the institution of marriage and its numerous rights, privileges, and responsibilities for the sole reason that Plaintiffs wish to be married to multiple people." "These Texas laws deny plaintiffs access to the institution of marriage and its numerous rights, privileges, and responsibilities for the sole reason that Plaintiffs wish to be married to a person of underaged status." "These Texas laws deny plaintiffs access to the institution of marriage and its numerous rights, privileges, and responsibilities for the sole reason that Plaintiffs wish to be married to an animal/plant/inanimate object." I'm calling it. The goalposts will keep getting moved, and we will see the same logic applied to other "lifestyles." And why not? The (lackluster) logic follows for all the above examples, and if there's reason to deny one, there's reason to deny all.

CNN says Piers Morgan's talk show is ending

"CNN's audience has tired of hearing a Brit weigh in American cultural issues, Morgan said in a story posted online Sunday." People wouldn't tire of Mark Steyn, a Canadian (with a British accent). Guess why.
Townhall, please stop celebrating stopped clocks.
