The Democrats Want Your Kids

As both a conservative and a social studies teacher, I strongly resent the implications of this article. I work together with teachers all over Spokane, WA. We're fighting an uphill battle to get kids to pass the high stakes tests you politicians have foisted on us. My school district has been doing this with a $10,000,000 budget shortfall. Librarians have been fired throughout the district-- most schools only run their libraries now for half of the day, and some even require teachers to run the library during their prep periods, giving up precious planning time to do so. Students are forced to work with a single classroom set of textbooks, often more than ten years old, torn, written in, water damaged, and certainly unsanitary. ...
