Sorry, Mr. 1247, but it is very easy in today's America to be intelligent, and yet vote for "the wrong guy" simply because you DON'T know "all of the things listed by this writer". Jbirck had it right in his 3:46pm response to you, when he cited the role the media play. I would add to this decades of disinfomation foisted on us by a socialist/Marxist dominated educational system ranging from K-12 through grad school, a secularization of society and the corresponding diminution of our church leaders (where are the pastoral counselors today who approach the calibre and universal reach of Billy Graham or Fulton J. Sheen?), and a cultural shift towards the impious as a result of the first two changes I cite.

If you are one of the folks who voted for Barack Obama in the last election, what did you vote for? More generally, if you voted for any liberal politician, what did you vote for?

Here are three things for starters: (1) no reform of the public schools, (2) no reform of the welfare system, and (3) no reform of labor market institutions that erect barriers between new entrants and good jobs.

How can I be so certain? Because the teachers unions, the welfare bureaucracy and all the other unions form the base of the Democratic Party. At least they are...
