Complaints Mount Against Michelle Obama’s New Lunch Menu

I work in a lunch room. The kids in not only my district but many other surrounding districts are so mad at the changes. The protein is cut (from 3oz on a sandwitch with cheese if you wanted, to 1oz if you want cheese which is a tiny amount), kept the breaded products (containing so much grease it's gross) force them to take fruit. They just look at you and wonder if that is really all they are getting...I could really go on and on. It is horrible. These kids are so hungry before school is even out for the day. They go home and eat what they can get their hands on quickly.-THAT is if they don't have sports (which they now have no fuel in their bodies burn) directly after school. Which so many of them do. I send sack lunches now.

And who knows how long sack lunches will be an option....in some schools, parents have been deemed unfit to provide lunches for their kids.

Why aren't parents protesting in the streets over this? How dare the government come in and dictate what our kids eat? And believe me, this is the tip of the iceberg with these people. If Obama gets a second term, Obamacare kicks in, and the government will feel it has all the rights in the world to dictate what we ALL eat or drink, how much we weigh, how much exercise we take a day, what vitamins we can take (if any; certainly not self-prescribed), etc. This is how freedom is lost -- in increments. And what the government controls, it can take away or cut back on, or whatever it chooses -- and these control freaks love that idea.

Let me try to get this straight.....school kitchen workers are loosing their jobs because kids are being fed HEALTHY FOOD??.....And some "parents have been deemed unfit to provide lunches for their kids". So.......These school lunches could be the only decent meal these kids eat all day? So you think that this one meal they eat should not be one that is balanced and healthful?
Has the whole world gone mad?!

You don't know what you are talking about. The major costs of the school lunch program formerly included sufficient bread for a sandwich, plus an apple or other fruit. macaroni and cheese, or beef hotdogs,( with milk and butter part of government subsidies) The major costs were the kitchen help and the teacher aides monitoring the cafeterias.

Side note to this story: Every school in the district I work a position in each kitchen was cut. This year the school district is doing the same thing again! We are losing jobs as well as serving lunches that leave our children hungry. It has become such a stressful situation. I say "Shame on the Obama's!"
In Wisconsin, high school athletes are complaining about not getting enough to eat each day, due to the skimpy new school lunch menu mandated by the United States Department of Agriculture and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The story we published earlier this week on that subject is unfortunately not unique. Students across the country are complaining about the new school lunch regulations.

Perhaps the real motive is to starve students into slimming down. Just ask students in Pierre, South Dakota who, too, are in an all-out revolt.
