So, of the people who watch network tv, they are choosing the shows you mentioned, and networks should change this type of programming because clearly high ratings indicate that people want to watch something else? Seems like something is missing in your logic. Also, many of the people who aren't watching network tv are watching cable shows, where there are less restrictions on sex and profanity. Do you think that the people going to Netflix are all watching reruns of Little House on the Prairie? Also, Flashpoint is a relatively new show? It's been on since 2008! The reason it doesn't have more exposure is because it is a Canadian show. Perhaps some actual research would help you to write an article.

Another thing the author might want to consider - Why is there a picture of an Oscar statuette when the article is about network television?

scrow - my posting answered that. many viewers are going to cable television, where they can watch shows with even less restrictions on sex and violence. In other words, there is a large number of viewers who think that network tv is still too conservative.

Except their not choosing the shows mentioned in high numbers. That's why the article says, "As a result, network viewership continues to drop every year. Last fall, ABC, Fox, CBS and NBC combined for a 9 percent drop in viewers in the coveted 18-to-49 age bracket."

I dolubt they are watching it. they just leave the tube on to have background noise in the house. If they are watching it though, its no wonder this country is having the extensive not too bright thing going on with the population. Liberal brain dead syndrome.

If you stopped watching network television awhile ago because it had gotten so bad, you made the correct decision. It has continued to get worse. A few years ago, network television became dominated by cheaply made reality TV shows and talent contests, sitcoms with hyperactive manic characters, and socially liberal themes. Television has always pushed the edge when it comes to socially progressive themes. But at what point does it go too far? Perhaps when there are no other options left during prime time network TV.

The top ten most popular TV shows last fall contained few choices for...
