With UE at 7.9%, an economy showing no signs of recovery, and scandal swirling around the current regime, Dougie the Dog Catcher should have been able to beat Dear Leader. Yet, looking at early exit polling and vote tallies tell us two things: 1) Romney received fewer votes than McCain did in 2008. Our people stayed home. Why? Apathy. 2) 50%+ of this country thinks GWB is still to blame for our economic woes, not Dear Leader. Messaging? How do you "message" to the willfully ignorant? Romney was/is not a stone cold conservative. But, he ran perhaps the best campaign we have seen from a GOP candidate for a long time. The people aren't buying. From early returns, the people stayed home. In the midst of destruction. Think about what that means.

Memorandum to the GOP: When running an election campaign it is often valuable to select a nominee who represents the rank and file of the Party. This is how other Parties do it. Perhaps you might get on board.
