Why Mitt Lost and it Wasn’t Very Close

As much as I hate to say it... There is the very real possibility that the worm has turned in this country. There is the very real possibility that what we conservatives are selling, the takers and the apathetic no longer want. A split seems to have occurred within GOP ranks to explain the inexplicable. Some, like Ransom along with Andre Harper and some local talk jocks, think it was lack of messaging combined with ground game failures. Others, like me, are filled with dread at the realization that perhaps the America we grew up in no longer exists. Dougie the Dog Catcher should have been able to roll to a landslide victory over Dear Leader. We have never in our history seen the destruction we have seen under this guy.

The GOP would do well to soften on social issues. Drop opposition to fair pay for women. Drop opposition to gay rights, your neighbor's bedroom is none of your business. Drop anti immigrant zealotry - they are after all the very laborers American employers rely upon. Drop the stupid "personhood" amendment which makes most popular contraceptives illegal, while you're at it drop anti abortion zealotry. Drop voter suppression.

That leaves conservatives carte blanch to do whatever you want with tax and government finances. If you then do something palatable with Social Security and Medicare, the GOP would be unbeatable.

If we did those things the GOP would be the Dem party. If the country goes down that path (highway) it will find that it is the highway to Hell. On that highway you can't see the destination until you are too close to avoid it.
We are on the way and close to the destination. I fear we just passed the final exit.
Explain to me, if you can, how this country gets turned around economically. Funds the social programs already in existence, and becomes a thriving engine of opportunity where anyone willing to work hard can succeed.
Go ahead, explain it to me.......

Memorandum to the GOP: When running an election campaign it is often valuable to select a nominee who represents the rank and file of the Party. This is how other Parties do it. Perhaps you might get on board.

Who?

Well let’s start with who not to select.

There was George H.W. Bush, who, while a nice, honorable public servant, won primarily because of the record Reagan established. He lost because the rest of us thought that when he mouthed the words “Read my lips, go to Texas,” he meant “Read my lips, no new taxes.”

There was Bob Dole,...
