If the Catholic Church is worried about membership, it should return to its core principles. And, people will flock to it to be a part of something bigger than themselves that holds to its principles. Take a lesson from the Marine Corps, the only service branch that never ever has any problems with meeting its recruiting goals (unlike the other services who offer all sorts of goodies to enlist), because they don't offer any incentive but the opportunity to become a Marine...if you are up to the task.

Got that right, It's the reason I chose the Corps back in the 70's, it's the reason my daughter chose it in 2001. We're one big, green, mean, Marine Corp family

I am not a Catholic, but I find the concerted efforts to smear various Popes to be disgusting and contemptible.  In the case of Pope Francis, according to the Vatican, anti-clerical left-wing outlets are trying to accuse him -- without any evidence -- of wrongdoing during the reign of a military junta from 1976-1983.  

Left-wingers in the United States responded predictably, with Michael Moore tweeting out a picture later revealed as a hoax, purportedly of Pope Francis offering communion to an Argentine dictator (to his credit, Moore issued a correction).
