This sounds like fear talking to me. Team Romney should do what it takes to win and nothing more. The popular vote is irrelevant in the eyes of the law. Spending money in an effort to win it is not only a misuse of resources, it also lends credit to those who advocate a change in the election system. If Americans have fallen so far out of love with our Constitution that the situation outlined in this article could come to pass, our problems are beyond the capacity of Mr. Romney or any other politician to rectify.
Thanks for the explanation. It's amazing how words and ideas, even when translated into one's own language, can carry such vastly different meaning to people in different cultures and circumstances.

Thanks Guy. I looked at the previews with intense skepticism, and absent any recommendation I considered legitimate, I'd decided to pass. You've changed my mind.

I enjoyed the article, and I have a great fondness and respect for Mr. Stossel, but to print the name of Larry Flynt, along side the name of Vaclav Havel is demeaning to the former Czech president. I understand the point Stossel is making, but with a list as distinguished as he's presented here, why is it incomplete without naming a pornographer?
Oh isn't that nice. "Hey Tim, if you do well, more babies will die." Classy people right there.

Imagine the horror his poor daughter will feel when one day she suddenly realizes that almost everything her dad taught her is right.
"I try not to pat myself too much on the back" I just vomited in my mouth.
I voted to reelect President Bush because I never wanted to hear the words "First Lady Maria Teresa Thierstein Simões-Ferreira Heinz".

I remember when I was a kid playing Super Mario Bros. 3. As soon as Mario first donned the tanooki suit I ran outside and slaughtered a nearby raccoon for its fur. Good times.
