5 Reasons Amnesty Would Be Political Suicide For The Republican Party

Here are the horns of the dilemma: There are a number of people who comment here at Townhall.com who are against immigration in general. Phyllis Schlafly, for one, argues that we are giving jobs away to illegals, etc. We should support immigration. It's good for the economy. It will help us pay for Social Security and Medicare in the future, compensating for our declining birth rate. BUT, we cannnot simultaneously provide all the free stuff (welfare, SNAP, in-state tuition rates, driver's licensing, motor voter registration, etc.) and still expect to keep illegals out. If we reduced the number of goodies we give people they actually would "self-deport."

Restricting abortion would also compensate for the declining birthrate.

Of all the misguided, corrupt and deranged ideas floating around inside the D.C. bubble, perhaps the single worst one is giving illegal aliens amnesty as part of some sort of attempt to capture the Hispanic vote. If the GOP were to pursue a policy that primarily benefits corrupt business owners, the government of Mexico, and Democrats at the expense of our country and our own base, we'd truly deserve the "Stupid Party" moniker that has so often been hung around our neck. This policy wouldn't be a calculated risk or even a longshot; it would be a game of Russian Roulette...
