While there are many possible solutions to fixing problems with health care in America, wouldn't the following two suggestions lower health care costs dramatically:
1) Create one regulator at the federal level to standardize regulatory reporting and provide oversight of insurers similar to the banking industry. In the banking industry, while multiple departments exist (OCC, OTS, State regulators), the Fed. Reserve is the ultimate authority and has created a standardized system of how banks are regulated across the country (recent flexing of muscles by the FDIC notwithstanding). As a result, a bank with operations in several states does not have to worry about complying with different sets of regs in each state. Hence, lower...
