The problem is--the truth hurts. These people, many of them decent people themselves, have permitted those characters to operate in their community for some 25 years now. Now the actions of the bad apples are leading to responses that are uncomfortable to hear. But if anyone tries to root out the bad apples, they close ranks to protect them. If Ramzi al-Kaboom blows up a subway station, he will hide in the Arab community, and they will not tell the FBI or the local police where he is. Notice to Arab-Americans--kick out your bad guys or be considered bad guys yourselves. There is such a thing as an accessory; there are hundreds of thousands of accessories who enable the terrorists to do the things they do.

"Jihad, holy fighting in Allah's cause, with full force and weaponry is ... an obligation and duty in Islam to every Muslim," reads the Shahzad quote. And underneath: "That's my Jihad. What's yours?"

San Francisco City Hall responded in knee-jerk fashion -- holding a news...
