And the same people who tell us we must rule over Key West (or your town!) for its own good will tell us we shouldn't do anything about female circumcision, burning women alive, sickening violence against Jews, and the arrest and execution of Christians, because we shouldn't interfere in someone else's culture.

Hysterical, if only it weren't so true! I'm unfortunately not a Progressive, ergo I'm not smart, so I still don't understand why everyone else's culture and traditions are sacrosanct, whereas ours aren't (mental image: Jesus soaked in urine).
I think it has something to do with the "fact" that America was the only country in the history of the world to ever have slavery; limit opportunities for women, transsexuals, and pedophiles; try to control its borders and even identify its voters & President.
If I'm following here, that means all Conservatives are racists, misogynists, and homophobes, therefore we are Untermenschen. And since we are sub-humans, we don't have human rights, even though spotted owls do. Or something like that.

I wonder if they'll declare Conservatism a disability, and therefore qualify us for Obamaphones, and not count us in the unemployment statistics?

no, unlike "gayness", conservatism is a life choice rather than our nature.

Well said LMan. If I may add to your list of facts:

Canada and the USA are the only countries in history where the original population has lost territory and influence to more advanced groups. Which of course makes their forced receipt of billions of dollars of our taxes all the more tragic.

One of my New Year's resolutions is to work harder to persuade ideological friends and foes alike that the way to reduce partisanship and maximize happiness in America is to embrace federalism -- the view that we should push as many decisions as possible to the lowest local level feasible.

Federalism reduces partisanship by shrinking the importance of the federal government. It increases happiness by maximizing the number of people who get to live the way they want to live.

Unfortunately, proponents of federalism tend to start the conversation with the really big issues: gay marriage, drugs, guns, abortion, etc.
