The simple fact is the retreat didn't begin with Mitt Romney's loss. The retreat is part of how Romney became the nominee. It's part of how we ended up with McCain instead of a conservative back in 2008, and it's part of how Republicans could vote against impeaching Clinton, knowing full well that he had committed dozens of crimes and that their 'no' vote would be used to make him a martyr. The Republican Party has been in retreat for years, and I for one don't believe it's possible to make them stop.

Seriously, if every fed up registered Republican would *flip the finger* so-to-speak and leave this stupid party, and join the Constitution Party, the GOP would go the way of the Whigs and the CP could emerge as the fresh face of conservatism.

Last year, when a Republican candidate should have waltzed to victory, Mitt Romney got his teeth knocked in by a man who could fairly be called the single least competent American President in history. This beating had very real consequences.
