Here's the first clue, Mr. Axelrod. In the unlikely event that tax protestors planned a bombing, they would probably target people or places that had something to do with raising, collecting, or using tax money. They would NOT target a group of people whose only connection to taxes was paying them.

Obama's April Fools Joke

Of course Obama wants young people to learn to budget. They're the ones who are going to have to figure out how to pay off the debt while eking out a living and saving for their own retirement. All with higher taxes, higher health care costs, higher unemployment, more expensive tuition, inflation, and insolvent social security. That's no easy feat, so they'd better start early.

Abortion involves another party, which makes it not a personal choice by definition. Conservatives couldn't care less what other people do with regards to contraception, homosexuality, etc. We just don't want to be forced by the rule of law to pay for or otherwise support those activities. I'm pretty sure you would get plenty mad if we proposed a tax to help people buy guns who couldn't afford them. In other words, we're not trying to restrict your personal freedom, we're insisting on personal responsibility in addition to your freedom. You can't truly have one without the other.

Intellectuals and Race: Part IV

My culture believes a father should work hard to adequately provide for his family, but also that a father should be present in his children's lives to provide religious, moral, and cultural guidance. Therefore, I have deliberately made decisions that limited my own financial success, in order to increase my success in other areas my culture deems more valuable. I'm perfectly aware my culture has limited my financial success. Does that mean I deem it inferior? Quite the opposite. The difference between me and multiculturalists is I don't blame the wealthy or expect them to rectify it. If I wanted more wealth, I would adopt more aspects of that culture. I'm secure enough about my cultural choices to accept the negative and positive.
I guess I'm one of the few who believe someone's personal political beliefs shouldn't be a factor in a business transaction. I don't want people not to buy my product just because I'm conservative, and I don't avoid buying other people's products just because they are liberal. The quality of the product at an agreeable price is all that matters to me. That being said, one of the quality factors I consider in my entertainment is whether the CONTENT is full of liberal propaganda. Susan Sarandon is physically incapable of acting in a movie that isn't sanctimonious liberal drivel, so I avoid her movies. Morgan Freeman plays plenty of parts that are relatively politically neutral, so I don't mind purchasing that entertainment.

Don’t Trust Economists, Part II

Economists proudly claim that humans act rationally in their own self interest. How can we trust them to promote theories that are best for society over theories that result in higher pay for themselves personally?

Irrational Reliance on Higher Powers

I think part of it is that liberals tend to view people as abstract groups: the government, the rich, corporations, the poor, minorities, etc. That lets them attribute ennobling characteristics to government that are nowhere close to true of the individuals that make up government.
