VP candidates never affect the outcome of a presidential election unless they're terribly flawed and even then only marginally. And regarding Rubio in particular, I agree with some commenters here that he won't help win over Hispanics. Neither will he cause Romney to lose white votes this time around, though, because whites who regard illegal immigration as a major issue detest Obama. And that detestation of Obama will drive them to the polls to vote for Romney regardless of who his VP running mate is.

You must look at the big picture for the GOP, white vote will soon be the minority...we must find a way to appeal to the masses and this should be easy.

Mary,

White vote won't be the minority until 2070
Mary973 Wrote: Jun 24, 2012 1:07 AM
Perhaps, but the white vote is divided.

Mary,

Best way to crush Democrats and unions and win the Black and Latino vote: Make school choice one of the leading issues of the GOP.

Let the Democrats continue to favor adult union bosses over intercity Black and Latino children.

Agree, school choice is a winning issue for the Republicans, however immigration is a bigger issue and we must find a coherent policy that is fair.

Mary,

Rewarding people who broke the law isn't fair.

American People won't allow anything to happen unless that fence is built.

Any child born in the US is an American citizen, no matter the status of the parents. What do we do about that? Obama has outwitted on this issue.

Mary,

14th Amendment says that a child born in America to foreign parents isn't American.

The way to crush the Progressive movement is to appoint more Originalists to the Supreme Court and overturn 70 years of unconstitutional.

Kevin, any child born in the US is an American citizen, this will not change...

Mary,

This is a suicidal policy that no other nation in the world adheres to. More importantly, this is not what the Founders of the 14th Amendment intended. This is why it is unconstitutional.

All you need is a state or Congress to pass a law and it to be challenged up to the Supreme Court.

Never going to happen. Most Americans, me included, believe that if you are born here on US soil you are an American citizen by birth. Carefully read the 14th amendment...this will not be overturned by any court.

This story dropped Friday night, via National Review’s Robert Costa.

I’m reliably informed that Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, the Budget Committee chairman, has submitted paperwork to the Romney campaign. Sources confirm that he is being vetted for the vice-presidential nomination.

Ryan, one of the GOP’s brightest young stars, is clearly a favorite of Romney allies. But some top Republican officials are wary of plucking him from the House, where he is the party’s most influential voice on fiscal issues.

Earlier this week, Romney campaigned with Ryan in Janesville, Wis., Ryan’s hometown. Ryan previously stumped...
