Whigs went the way of the Dodo because they refused to confront the great moral issue of the day, which was slavery. If I have to accept government run medicine and control of the economy, abandon the idea of the sovereignty of our nation's borders and its laws, and deny the truths and proofs of Western Civilization and its religious writings, then what's the point?

Governor Rick Perry (R-Texas) drew applause with that line, as he spoke at last week’s “Conservative Political Action Conference’ (“CPAC”) in Maryland.
