Republicans Have Bad Brains?

I don't know if there is science to prove it with MRI, but it seems most conservatives who write blogs and comment on Townhall either have brains stuck in the negative mode or write to stimulate the negativity in others. Such hateful things to say about and assumptions about people you disagree with. Maybe these people are so caught up in the fight part of fight and flight reaction they see danger where none exists. Take the risk of not assuming liberals are evil and out to get you. That is almost bordering on paranoia. Take the attitude that liberals and conservatives do not agree on everything and that maybe each has something good to contribute. Peace

(part ii) It was eye-opening. For a period of around 18 months, in dozens of trials, I did not follow a single link where the refutation for the leftist's point was not right there at the link they provided. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. supported, not the leftist's position, but the OPPOSITE. It was simply unbelievable; leftists cannot read. They see only what they want to see.

After literally decades of doing what you suggest, I know know: (1) progressive are incapable of reason; (2) progressives resort to character assassination as a first recourse; (3) progressives care more about one-upmanship than about truth; (4) progressives have no principles aside from the increase of their own power and reputation. Progressivism is very nearly pure evil.

Sorry, sounds like you made that up.

That's precisely what I did... for 25 years. During that time, I had perhaps four conversations of real substance with leftists. Four. That's not an exaggeration, it's a count. The rest resorted to sneering and name-calling within minutes, some within seconds, of my stating calmly my disagreement with them and beginning to explain my reasons.

There was even a period when I decided to follow every link provided by a leftist to see whether their links supported their claims. (cont.)

I know how that feels. It happened at my aunt's funeral when I was attacked and also in my own home during a holiday celebration. Doesn['t feel good. Try saying you agree to disagree. If they start up again, say "Ithought we weren't going to talk politics." Most the time it works.

I've got a similar arrangement with my older brother, who is a hard-core progressive. It's a genuine head-scratcher to me, though. His IQ is probably a bit higher than mine (we're both pretty bright) and on the subjects of his expertise, he's extremely well-informed (language, music.) But when he starts talking politics, it's as though his IQ drops almost 100 points, and he says ludicrous stuff like "Ronald Reagan was an actor, and actors make their living by lying, so we know Ronald Reagan is dishonest." I don't respond, because he's my brother and I love him... but seriously, that's worthy of a 7-year-old. So we try to avoid politics, and most of the time we succeed.

You've got to be kidding me. There is no creature as hateful as a liberal, which explains the standard demeanor. It only takes a cursory examination of this blog, to note that a large number of liberals actually contrive their very *monikers* into insults.

I'm afraid the faction that states "GOP policies will kill children, make grandma have to eat pet food, before we wheel her over a cliff" has no moral basis to scold others over their manners.

Maybe conservatives should not let liberals bait you. Anonymity allows people to say truly hateful things. I read it from both sides. Would never say only conservatives do it, but there is little true debating going on. Please don't sterotype all democrats.

I didn't mean to sound scolding (I assume you are refering to me). Just giving an observation. Just choose not to get angry. It's not good for anyone.

JustWondering:

Have you ever seen the posts about conservatives at DU, DailyKOS, Moveon.Org, Huffington Post, etc? You want "brains stuck in the negative mode or write to stimulate the negativity in others," try reading some of them.
JustWondering Wrote: May 03, 2012 3:55 PM
I have seen them. Some of them are stuck in negativity as well.

Thank you. I choose to believe you are sincere.

"They do that because they were born that way."

If you say that about homosexuals, you are tolerant and realistic. If you say it about blacks, you are racist (unless you're black yourself). If you say it about women, you may or may not be sexist, depending on who is manning (er, womanning) the feminist battle stations. If you say it about men, you just might be a writer for Esquire. But if you say it about conservatives, you're a scientist.

Over the past decade, a new fad has taken hold among academics and liberal journalists: call it the new science...
