I guess a case can be built to say Petraeus could have done better, but to say this was a betrayal to the US is a huge stretch. Betrayal is treachery or purposely helping the enemy -this would make him a traitor to the country. His betrayal was to his wife. He has disappointed many people in America with his behavior, but any betrayal was done to his wife. Maybe the lesson is that a person who would betray their spouse will betray anything.
