Hey Jackie, if you're serious about this issue, you might want to talk to the nice people at Townhall who publish your column. Pay specific attention to the ads running in the sidebars, in which we have: an attractive women sitting in her office in her underwear (it's an ad for Townhall itself), a women staring alluringly into the camera (it's an ad for refinancing mortgages), and two women in bikinis smiling for the camera (an ad for Myrtle Beach vacations). Sure, they all appear to be adults, but we're these ads are still using sexualization and objectification of women to promote a business message. Who knows, Jackie, maybe your daughters read your column.
Immigration reform in one easy sentence: The United States will treat all immigrants are the country they are emigrating from treats foreign immigrants moving to that country. As an example: Mexicans who stand in line and come here legally will have limited rights, limited employment opportunities, and no ability to engage in political activity. Mexicans who come here illegally will be shot on sight, or jailed and then deported. How could anyone complain?
Congress should pass a law requiring public funding of all campaigns above the level of city dog catcher. The same bill should establish the seizure of all PAC funds and all current political war chests to fund the effort.
You're really wound up about this. Too bad it has nothing to do with the subject of the essay, which is the offensive hypocrisy of a bunch of Mexican politicians deigning to tell another country how it should behave toward immigrants while they themselves follow a very different path in that regard. The U.S. isn't rich because it takes in criminal Mexicans. Mexico isn't poor because it exports its criminal element to the U.S. If you want to solve the problems in your country, stop wasting your time arguing points that no one disputes and do something about them.
Given the president's disdain for guns, he should strip his security detail of all weapons immediately. And reopen the White House for tours. That goes equally for all politicians who push gun control. Let them live in the world they envision for the rest of us for a change.
For that matter, between campaigning for more gun laws and a return of Speaker Pelosi, one could question just who Obama wants to win the House next year.
This is great news. Given his track record for persuasion, every minute that Obama spends talking about the "need for new gun regulations", the less likely it is that any such new regulation will ever get passed. If there is a universal rule in Washington, it's that anything this president is in favor of is almost certainly a bad idea.
I will assume that in 223 previous comments, someone has bothered to note that seven round mags do in fact exist, and that they are the most common capacity magazine for the Colt 1911 and most of the copies of it. Also, several pocket-sized pistols can be had with magazines that hold 7 or fewer rounds. Which is not to argue on behalf of Cuomo, who is as dumb as dumb comes. But there is no reason to publish blatantly incorrect information to try to make him look dumber. He's fully capable of doing that by himself. In the end, the limit he now wants to overturn pushes people toward larger caliber weapons and more easily concealed weapons. Sometimes both at the same time. Which just goes show how little thought went into it.
"This brings these types of intelligence gathering tactics closer to the average American, but it is far enough under the radar that most likely we won’t see a huge outcry from privacy groups asking about this program." I'm sure that sounded cute when you wrote it, but we both know that there never was going to be any outcry from the "civil liberties" crowd when it was a Democratic administration spying on average Americans. They only care about the rights of foreign terrorists, and only when a Republican administration is in office.
Notice that she did not answer the question.
The House should call Ms. Napolitano in for a chat, on the record, about why she is lying to the American people about things that would be obvious to them if they were true.
