"Israel is a peace-seeking democracy whose nuclear weapons are clearly intended purely for defense. Iran is ruled by a terrorist gang that managed to gain control of a country." Apparently Ms. Charen is unaware (or unconcerned with) how Israel's rulers gained "control of a country." And by "a country" I mean a country populated by people whose lands were taken from them when it was taken. That doesn't seem to matter to Ms. Charen.

Israel's lands were not "stolen" from the Arabs. The Arabs themselves were the invaders. that land is FULL of Jewish relics and ancient constructions, and Jews have lived continuously in that are for thousands of years. the Al-Aqsa mosque is built upon the Jewish Temple Mount.
Plus,Jews established an International Fund to BUY land in that are in the early 1900s,well before any proposed State of Israel. even today,Jews BUY land from Arabs, despite the arabs making it against the law to sell land to a Jew.
Finally, the Arabs launched war after war on Israel, and LOST land in those wars. Arabs ABANDONED their lands on order of the Arab leaders, and most obeyed their orders to stay away after the wars ended. Any claim they had, they abandoned.

Yet I cannot agree with liberals that more gun control will lead to fewer gun crimes.

President Obama's choice for defense secretary, Chuck Hagel, actually illuminated one of the weaknesses of the gun control case. Hagel had been closely associated with Global Zero (though he's since repudiated it), a movement dedicated to "the elimination of all nuclear...
