JustMC and SMyles think they can twist what Reagan did and was into something that it wasn't. You two clowns probably weren't even alive when he took office. The times were very similar to now. High unemployment, high interest rates a totally demoralized populace that was being told America was on the decline. Carter and the left said the Soviets weren't evil and were letting them right into the back door. Reagan turned ALL of that around. He set the stage for over 20 years of growth and prosperity against the media and the left that hated them. So a couple of America hating pessimists like you two ought to be ashamed of your revisionist BS.

I'm 56 old soldier. What did I twist about Reagan? Why are you so quick to make things up?

I didn't make a thing up. Just MC twisted what Reagan did and was and you concurred. He was a great man who turned this nation around in spite of the media that hated him and the left wing Congress that opposed him every inch of the way.
We won't see another like him and denigrating him doesn't do anything productive for the present.

You just did your own revisionism. I didn't say jack about Reagan. Maybe get your facts straight before you start pointing fingers and making a fool of yourself.
SMyles Wrote: Feb 10, 2013 9:20 AM
All I said was that he won and apparently that's all that matters. It was in reference to today's GOP voters thinking that winning is all that matters.

How do you make the leap that I'm concurring?

Really? What did I revise? JustMC wrote a multi-layered comment about Reagan and how he lay the groundwork for the current situation (Just MC 8:10 AM). You tagged on at the end with ..."But he won JustMC. That's apparently, all that matters"

SMyles Wrote: Feb 10, 2013 9:23 AM
BTW, I don't think anything was twisted. Why is your statement incompatible with JustMC's. I agree with both. You are correct. So is JustMC.

Alright, I disagree with JustMC and responded too quickly. My apologies. Too quick on the draw

No worries old soldier. I was snippity too. I sometimes respond after reading only a sentence of a remark, then realize I jumped the gun.

Have a great day!

Old soldier, your comments are uselessly vague and I think that accurately reflects the uncritical, slavish devotion people have to Reagan. How about challenging the details I cited about the debt he signed onto by cutting deals with Tip O'Neill, and the misleading effect of false prosperity that borrowing brings in the short term..

The entire substance of your comments thus far is "Reagan turned ALL of that around." Which fits PRECISELY with what I describe. Reagan made you FEEL good, but the deals he cut and the debts he signed onto actually harmed us.

Not saying he didn't MEAN WELL, saying Reagan-era prosperity was an illusion.

Infighting continued amongst conservatives and Republicans this week. Karl Rove angered Tea Partiers by implying they don’t know how to pick candidates. Majority Leader Eric Cantor told anyone who would listen Republicans need to learn to craft their message better for a broader audience. Every conservative group and politician is scrambling to find a way to appeal to various groups of Americans in a way that will “work” to win them votes. It reeks of desperation…and it’s nothing new.

After every election loss by Republicans in the last 20 years, the media has declared them dead, particularly the conservative wing of...
