The Real "Iron Lady"

I saw Iron Lady yesterday. I thought the movie was best summed up by PM Thatcher's statement to the effect that real leaders make the tough decisions that cause them to lose popularity and be derided but are the right tonic for the country. She took the heat from the labor unions and the vocal minority dependent on government's largess. The riots were very ugly and harmful. Nevertheless, her prescription of austerity to restore fiscal sanity was the right one. After a few years of a deep and painful recession caused by socialist policies of fiscal insanity, PM Thatcher's tonic cured the patient. Years of prosperity ensued.
Smiley and Dr. West are calling for Marxist "revolution" in this country. They sought to inflame the OWS protesters to violence. I was disappointed to see Suze Orman dancing with these creeps. I lost a lot of respect for her.

Some Inconvenient Facts

We must remember that FDR's numbers stunk to high heaven (Worse than Obama's) and yet FDR was elected thrice. He did it using a populist message that fooled the people. The same message Obama uses to his political advantage. It is dishonest, pernicious and insidious but it works politically. Happily, due to FDR's political success that wounded our country to this day, the people amended the constitution to term limit the presidency!
I differ on the definition of a lie. The intent to deceive is all that matters EVEN if the statement is true. Just look at how statistics are used to mislead untrained eyes.

Countering An EMP Attack

I see a big omission from this whole discussion. An devastating can and does happen naturally as a result of solar activity. We've had many but they weren't noteworthy because our society wasn't dependent on electronics the last time we had one. Back then, we were agrarian so we barely noticed the EMP. We are actually past due for an EMP from Mother Nature. It isn't IF. It's WHEN. It is coming. Those who are prepared will survive. Millions will die from starvation and exposure unless we take the necessary steps to protect our power grid from EMP. It isn't that costly given the possible consequences of inaction. Everyone should be prepared by stockpiling food, supplies, etc. Those that prepare will survive.

Countering An EMP Attack

I watched a panel of experts on C-Span talk about this topic a few months ago. Politicians, experts and generals all agreed that our government should spend the relatively small amount of money to "harden" our power grid. If we don't, millions will die of mass starvation and exposure. The wise ones are preparing now but those are few. It isn't "IF" but "when." An EMP is going to happen soon. The only question is if it will be done by an enemy or the sun.

An EMP attack doesn't have to come from an adversary. The planet is way past due for nature to inflict one. In the past, a natural EMP didn't matter much to us because we were an agrarian society. I wonder why Mr. Fuelner didn't mention anything about that? People would be wise to prepare themselves by stocking up food and supplies to endure what could be a very ugly chapter in mankind's history if we aren't prepared for the inevitable.
