If it was your child, would you feel the same way? If your child was featured in a photo, and democrats started comparing him to someone disgusting like the boy responsible for Sandy Hook, would you care? The child in this photo is not a prop. He was at a gathering with his family when the President visited Iowa. This child was giggling and playing hide and seek in the bunting and someone snapped a cute photo of him. It was an impromptu moment from 2012 and it was not staged by Debbie Wasserman or any other member of the democrat party. We've attacked the Democrat party relentlessly for using prop photos. Remember the white lab coats when obamacare was passed? Now when the democrats use a real photo of an American child we attack them for the subject matter not being proper enough for flag day, and essentially say they should have staged the photo with a proper representation of our flag?? And God forbid they use a dark skinned child because that is just an underhanded way to push immigration. You ARE joking, right? But now, teaparty republicans, and conservatives are attacking this photo because they did not stage this picture with the child holding an accurate representation of the flag??? We will never win with this kind of mentality.
Your lack of sincerity is disturbing.
I say you are sadly mistaken. Are you trying to change the subject about the photo? Are you trying to redirect the mistake that so many conservatives have assumed about this photo by trying to attack my loyalty to the party? Allow me to veer away from the actual subject for a moment, to clear your mind.. I served as a delegate in the Texas GOP. I am within a group of people currently volunteering with the Republican Party of Texas working hard to build up our online presence by putting together the calendar of events across our state and sending out the email newsletters every week to our party members so we can organize better and keep voters interested and informed. For the last eight years I have worked tirelessly to get conservatives elected in our house and senate. Lately I worked hard to make sure Dan Patrick won the primary and I am working hard to make sure Greg Abbott will be our next Governor of Texas and not Wendy Davis... Even before that, I stood in front of the Alamo shoulder to shoulder with Glenn Beck and 10,000 of my fellow Texans on that very first April 15 tax day teaparty. I travelled to DC to be with Michelle Bachman and stood in front of Pelosi's office and ripped up pages of Obamacare the night before that horrible nightmare passed. Regardless of what I have done, I am attacked by people like you who are offended when someone has a different view than yours. That when I bring information that shows a different perspective to help keep people informed, it means I am secretly not a conservative, and that is wrong. Frankly I am tired and ready to give up because nothing I can do seems to make a sizable impact. I worked hard to keep obama from a second term, and he still won. I worked hard to keep obamacare from passing. It passed anyway. I worked hard and contributed what little money I had to help Allen West win his seat. He lost any way. I supported Cain, Palin, Romney, and they lost. I have a really bad feeling we wont win the presidency this coming election. Because it is accusations like that that will cause other conservatives like me to give up and stop working so hard to support the conservative party. I do not want a conservative party that acts like the democrats when they see a picture and follow what one person tells them it is without verifying it for themselves. Then we are nothing more than a bunch of sheeple that wont think for themselves. That is how the democrats act.
Google the story. Thousands of comments are out there. Why is it a stupid tweet? It is a patriotic photo. Just because you don't see the actual flag in the photo, you assume it is stupid? Actually it is pretty stupid to assume this picture is not technically appropriate to be representative of flag day. Because if we go back and look at every tweet or photo posted about an American holiday and flag each one that is not technically correct, where does that get us?
I am not the one comparing the boy to an illegal immigrant. Or saying he is not an American. There is a particularly disturbing thread below that compares the child to Trayvon Martin. I did not come up with that assumption randomly. Read the comments and see.
The boy is an American. He lives in Davenport Iowa. Why would you assume he is representative of every child from a Central American Country? If the child was white, would you say the same thing?
The boy is an American. From Davenport Iowa. You assume is is representative of the children coming across the border why? Because he has dark skin? How is that kind of judgement not seen as anything less than racist?
Is there any way for you to see the perspective on this child's mother? Regardless of party affiliation, as a mother I am horrified by comments like that. It is a beautiful photo. The boy is a true blue American living in the heartland. This family from Iowa is probably very proud of their son in that photo, but today they see him being ridiculed with harsh comments that he is not American. Even the comments on this thread would break any mother's heart to know her son was the brunt of such horrible jokes. And it is not the general public doing the ridiculing. It is conservatives, republicans, tea party members. The damage done here is huge. All the hard work we have done is being flushed. Your comparisons are based on what? Why would anyone look at this picture of this child and compare him to an illegal immigrant? Perhaps because he has dark skin? I wont call you a racist, but can you see how that kind of judgement can be perceived as racist?
