Waiving Freedom

Why did no one try to stop all these things that went on with BO. Since he trampled our Constitution couldn't we have done something? Someone please help me here, what could have been done?

It's called impeachment. No one dared suggest it because they would be called (shudder) RACISTS. Pathetic.

For the first two years congress was totally controlled by the democrats, so you are asking the fox to guard the chicken coop. The Republicans in the house have been doing a fairly good good job of keeping this Marxist in check.

It all comes down to the House.
The republicans have control there, but the Speaker, John Boehner, doesn't have the stones to stand up to the establishment and do his job. He could bring up each and every EO that has NOTHING to do with vital US security and strike them down.
He could withhold money from the White House, but like I said, he doesn't have the stones.

Scrap Iron: You're right as far as you go. The House couldn't prohibit czars, for example, without the Senate's concurrence. But it can simply tell Obama that he'll have to pay them from his own pocket because no public money will be used. As you say, Boehner is too spineless to do that. But so is everyone else.
Beverly143 Wrote: Nov 06, 2012 7:03 AM
I so totally agree that Boehner is spineless. He's worried about his reelection and doesn't want to do anything that will rock the boat. We need to get rid of all of these career politicians every year they come up for reelection. We've a govt full of fools who are so worried about themselves and their lifestyle that doing what is right for the country has become an afterthought.

The media is on his side. When Bush 43 was prez, there was much heartburn from the media about Buch/Cheney trampling the constitution...now that Obama/Biden actually are crapping on our founding document, the media is silent.

Plus half of the country has their hands in the wallets of the half who pay the taxes. Think they object to anything Obama does?

Reporters could've reported. The opposition party could've opposed. Courts could've struck down. But all this is like saying that a person dying of lung cancer could've stopped smoking. It has taken generations to get into this mess. Although both parties are responsible, the fault is ultimately ours. We've put criminals and fools in power and ignored their crimes and follies. Now the only thing that may save us is some kind of radical surgery -- a constitutional convention, partition, or revolt. None of these will occur. So all that's left is to prepare for the inevitable collapse and hope to build something better from the ruins.

A Democrati filibuster proof Senate and a majority of Democrats in the House passed it. If you want change that significant in anpother direction then you will need a Republican version.

Good question!

I've been asking... "Where the hell has Congress been?"

It's Congress' JOB to keep Obozo in check!!!
NewJAl Wrote: Nov 06, 2012 6:56 AM
Congressmen might have spoken but only by examination of the record, tuning in to Fox, or being there, would we know. Only the President's line gets the light of day, for our millions.
Romney's public persona and character were totally what they painted, until the millions actually saw him in the debates.
Bills have been sent over and simply ignored by Harry Reid, and they are many, many.
They just die there. Congress has kept Obozo in check, as things would be much worse without the election that deposed Pelosi. That energy seems stronger, today, then it was, at that time, and many are better informed.

Unfortunately the real power lies in the Senate. Unless that changes to at least 50/50 I am afraid we will be in for four more years of stagnation, except I don't think the ponzi scheme of the Fed can last that much longer, and inflation will really start exploding.

Unfortunately, even though impeachment must originate in the House of Representatives, it is the Senate that tries the Impeachment and therefore would be a fruitless gesture in 2012. However, if O wins and the Republicans can win/maintain majorities in both houses then come 2013, impeachment and conviction might have a chance.
Among the objections to ObamaCare, one that has not gotten as much attention as it should is the president's power to waive the law for any company, union or other enterprise he chooses.

The 14th Amendment to the Constitution provides for "equal protection of the laws" for all Americans. To have a law that can cost an organization millions of dollars a year either apply or not apply, depending on the whim or political interest of the President of the United States, is to make a mockery of the rule of law.

How secure is any freedom when there is this kind of...
